Mice dangers
Mice are more dangerous than they look. They may seem like tiny innocent little rodents but they can make you sick in ways you cannot even imagine. Their feces carries all kinds of bacteria and viruses with one of the most dangerous being the Hantavirus. This is a respiratory virus that can put you in the hospital. They also carry bacteria in their fur which can float around the house and be inhaled and consumed. They carry parasites like fleas and ticks which are famed for causing Lyme disease and this is just the beginning. There is more they can do to harm you and your family.
Mice and humans
Mice have been entering human homes for thousands of years. They are European mice that evolved along with humanity for thousands of years after we became agrarian. That’s when we stopped wondering like nomads and started building permanent homes and began farming our food instead of living off the land. The mice and other rodents saw this happening in the European stone age and started taking advantage of the food storage humans were doing. So much food in one place and no one was paying very close attention to it. What would you have done?
Mice entryways
Mice will enter human homes through existing entryways like open wall vents, foundation gaps, openings in brickwork like weep vents, electrical openings and plumbing vents. They can also just wander through a door that has been left open. There are too many ways for a mouse to get into your house to name, only a professional can find them all and seal them off but even then they can just chew new ones.
Mice in walls and basements
Mice will enter your home and make nests in the walls. They often nest in outer walls to take advantage of the soft insulation which they use as nesting material. They will often enter the house already pregnant which is how they start the infestation in the first place. They will give birth often to a littler of at least ten pups. These pups will grow to sexually mature adults in mere weeks and will be able to mate, even with each other as mice are already a very bread race. They can produce up to fifteen litres a year making over one hundred or more babies in that time. This is just from one mouse so do not think seeing one mouse means you may have a few. You have hundreds if you’ve seen even one.
Mice domestic treatments
Dealing with them is hard if you are trying to do it yourself. Domestic treatments are commonly known to fail in the treatment of a full-blown rodent infestation. You can try essential oils or domestic poison but snap traps and glue traps cannot keep up with their population growth.
Mice commercial treatment
If you are finding yourself out of options then the only thing to do is to call a professional. They have access to high-quality bait that will kill the mice and are attracted to more than the food in your kitchen. They can also seal up openings and help you understand how mice got in the first place.
